We’ve fixed an issue that caused some users (especially new ones) not to see shop markers on the map. If you previously opened the app and didn’t see any sellers — don’t worry! You should now see shops displayed correctly on the map. 🌍

💡 Note: Up to 50 seller markers are displayed at a time depending on your viewport to keep performance fast and smooth, especially as our seller community continues to grow.

“How much is my pi worth?” is a question I see often asked. The Map of Pi app provides the answer to that question.
By using Map of Pi there’s no need to wait for Open Mainnet… your pi has value now with Map of Pi.
The purpose of the Map of Pi app is to allow pioneers to search for Sellers selling stuff for pi coins.
Businesses and non-business pioneers can list the items they are selling. Buyers Search for them using a search field which drops markers on a map where the Sellers are located.
The Buyer taps on a map marker to open the Sellers list, selects the items they want, which moves them to their checkout basket. The Buyer then pays the pi amount using transfer directly between their Pi Wallets, and receives the goods/services from the Seller.
The pi value used in each individual transaction is agreed between the Buyer and Seller for each transaction.
Over time, demand vs supply via this large number of social purchase interactions will eventually cause the pi value to stabilise based on market forces.
So as you can see… by using Map of Pi there’s no need to wait for Open Mainnet… your pi has value now with Map of Pi.

How to start Map of Pi?
Many of our Map of Pi friends are asking us how they should run the Map of Pi app… see attached image. Here’s how…
As Map of Pi is a web app it will run in any web browser by typing in url mapofpi.com.
You can also then save it to your home screen as an icon by tapping the browser share button and selecting Save To Homescreen. Then to run Map of Pi you just tap the icon on your homescreen as if it were a native app installed from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.
NB Map of Pi is currently in the test environment in the Pi Browser… but when we launch it will be in any browser on any device😃

A Map of Pi friend recently posted this query about inaccuracy of location in apps running in the Pi Browser. We currently have a problem that Pi Browser blocks Pi utility apps from accessing the device GPS to pick up location. Most apps, including Map of Pi use a workaround by approximating user location using the IP address end point location. In my own personal case, even though I’m not using a VPN, apps place me 10km from my home. It’s very frustrating. The Map of Pi team are really not happy that in a map-based app we cannot place the user at their actual location. In this friend’s case where they have to use a VPN the IP-based location is significantly distant to their actual location. This location problem won’t go away for any app until Pi Browser gives us access to the device location services. However in the mean time our skilled developers have now devised a new UX user experience which enables Map of Pi to know precisely where the user is, without using IP address approximation and regardless of whether the user is on a VPN or not. For privacy purposes this precise location is only known by the user alone and not shared anywhere else except when the user chooses to share it. We’re working hard to code up this feature for you, and we’ll post an update on our mapofpi Facebook page when we’re ready to release it. How to book a Pool Table using Map of Pi… see image showing Messenger post received today… I love this idea😃 It’s a fantastic example of how all our lives will be changed for the better with the Map of Pi app. Encourage the owner of the pool table to list their venue in Map of Pi, which places a map marker showing where on the map their Seller venue is located. They add a “pool table” item. Our pool player Buyer searches for pool tables, sees the map marker pop up and taps it to open the Seller’s list of items. The Buyer puts the “pool table” item into their shopping basket and pays for it direct from their Pi Wallet to the pool table venue owner Pi Wallet. This can be done in advance of the Buyer visiting the venue ready for a pool game later, or can be done for an immediate game when the Buyer is already at the venue. As soon as the venue owner receives the Map of Pi payment from the Buyer, they allow the Buyer to play pool. Of course if the venue has other items for sale, like in a bar, or cafe, etc, then the Seller can also list their other items for sale in Map of Pi too… so the Buyer’s whole experience at the venue can be paid for with pi via the Map of Pi app. I’m soooo excited to see pool table players and venues both taking advantage of Map of Pi😃🎉💰 Encourage your friends to like/follow/share our Facebook.com/mapofpi page.
